James has an MBA Finance degree from the International University of Japan as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees from Bishop’s University and McGill University in Quebec. James has resided in Japan for close to 15 years, is married to a Japanese national, has a home in the mountains of Niigata-ken but works in Tokyo.

Hiroshi joined the recruiting industry at the end of 2004 as a legal recruiter. He has placed a number of senior legal and compliance officers into various financial institutions as well as Bengoshi (Japanese qualified lawyers) into law firms based in Tokyo. His long-term commitment to both clients and candidates is generating excellent value-add for all parties involved for successful hires. Hiroshi, together with James, specializes in the recruiting of mid to senior level Bengoshi and legal officers to financial institutions and law firms. He also focuses on compliance officers for financial institutions. Hiroshi and James continue to focus on difficult search assignments in the legal and compliance for the Tokyo market – and will continue to do so for the long-term.

Tomoe began her career in recruiting in 2006 in Tokyo working with James and Hiroshi focusing on corporate legal roles at multi-national corporations, documentation and compliance recruitment at financial institutions, paralegal and junior legal roles at law firms. She has successfully assisted on several high-level, difficult-to-fill searches with James and Hiroshi. She brings tenacity to her work that her colleagues respect and rely on her for. As she is always striving to work more efficiently, Tomoe leads by example and is responsible for training all internal Resourcers. Tomoe holds BA in International Relations and Politics from Scripps College in Claremont, California. She is half Japanese and Chinese, and has lived in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Boston. Tomoe is a native Japanese and English speaker, and she speaks conversational Mandarin and Cantonese.

Jonathan Paine joined T2 Tokyo in 2008 and possesses over nine years Financial Services executive search experience in Tokyo. His expertise lies in Front Office recruiting including; Economists/Strategists, Equity and Fixed Income Portfolio Management, Equity and Credit Research and Trading and is complemented by a strong network in Structured Finance. He works with a select number of foreign financial firms and global/regional hedge funds and is ranked by Asia Money. Prior to joining T2 Tokyo, he developed a financial services search practice at a Tokyo-based recruitment company. Jonathan graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in French Literature in 1994. He speaks English, French and intermediate Japanese, and has worked in various locations in Europe, America and Asia.

Prior to his career in recruiting, Arlo worked in the music industry as a concert promoter, an industry which he still follows closely in his free time. Arlo earned a B.S. in business from the University of Redlands, CA and has been living in Japan for over 20 years. Outside of the office he enjoys playing basketball, listening to music and movies.

Prior to joining T2 Tokyo in 2008, Paul held a regional role for a leading foreign investment bank managing the Corporate Real Estate Asia Pacific portfolio. Paul has a BS in Business Marketing from Biola University. He is married to a Japanese national and having been born and raised in Japan has lived in Tokyo for most of his life. Paul speaks fluent Japanese and has a deep understanding of the local culture and business practices.

Masahiro joined T2 Tokyo in 2008 and brings with him for four years of executive search experience in Tokyo. In his previous company, Masahiro completed a number of senior placements in various industries and was nominated by his peers for the Asia Consultant of Year award in 2006. Prior to his career in executive search, Masahiro worked as a business administrator in the accounting department at Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL). Masahiro graduated from City University of New York with a M.A International Relations. He lived and studied in NYC for three years, gaining perspective on inter-cultural issues and improving his English skills.

Jennifer first came to Japan in 1989 and possesses experience in both executive search and sales. Jennifer joined T2 Tokyo in 2008 to support the Financial Services team as an Associate Consultant. She started her recruitment career at a regional APAC search firm with offices in Tokyo, focusing on HR and Finance/Accounting positions, and there developed a passion for connecting talented professionals in the Tokyo multinational job market with best-fit opportunities. In her previous incarnation as an academic Jennifer taught Japanese language and modern Japanese literature at the University of California, and holds an MA in Japanese Studies. Outside of the office Jennifer enjoys yoga, photography, and the constant stimulation that is Tokyo.
